Size Matters…if You’re a Spaceship

We all know that the Enterprise is pretty darn huge–it houses hundreds of people, plus it’s got that awesome bridge and cavernous engine rooms. Plus a pretty sweet elevator. But have you ever wondered how close we come to matching the size of the Enterprise with our current spacecraft? You might think that the space station would come kind of close to the size of the Enterprise. But you would be wrong. Invader Xan at Supernova Condensate made a to-scale drawing of historical, current, and in-development space craft plus a scaled-down version of the Enterprise (aka, the Enterprise is supposed to be actually bigger than it is in the drawing). It’s pretty humbling. Maybe in 150 years (which would be around when the original series is supposed to be taking place).
